Morgan Harbison is one of “Babe’s Best”

Morgan Harbison was recently selected as the season’s final “Babe’s Best” by CBS 11 sports anchor Babe Laufenberg.  The honor is given to High School athletes who are not only outstanding on the football field or other sports but also in the classroom and community as well.  As a recipient of the award, Morgan will receive a $1,000 scholarship awarded by CBS 11 and the Metroplex Cadillac Dealers. 

Morgan’s interview with Babe will air on the 10 o’clock news on CBS 11 Christmas night.

December Activities

Come join us as we visit the residents of the Sam Rayburn VA Community Living Center in Bonham on Saturday, December 19th at 10:00 am.  We will distribute the Christmas ornaments that we made at the November meeting and will visit with the folks who have served our country in many different arenas in all branches of our military.  In the past our members have learned a great deal from these very interesting people and have enjoyed giving back to them.

Our Christmas party is Monday, December 21 at 7:00 pm at the Woodmen of the World Lodge in McKinney.  Bring your favorite dessert or snack.  There will be a prize for the most unusual/decorated/interesting dessert.  We will also have a gift exchange.

2010 Texas State Team Selections from Collin County

Congratulations to Michael Garner and Morgan Harbison on their selection to the 2010 Texas State Team to represent the state of Texas at the Nationals 4H Shooting Sports Competition which is being hosted in Texas next year!

Michael Garner, after winning the Rick Howard Hunting Trophy for 3 consecutive years at the State Games, was selected as one of four 4-H’ers for the Hunting Team.

Morgan Harbison, a world class shotgun shooter, was selected to represent Texas on the Smallbore Pistol Team. Morgan won 1st place in Senior2 at the 2009 State Games in Smallbore Pistol, Centerfire Pistol, and .45 Pistol and was the High Overall Runner Up Pistol Shooter.

We are proud of these two young men for their selection to a State program and team that has brought home the National Tom Davidson High Overall Trophy 10 consecutive years!

The New Year Has Begun

The New 4H Year has begun and shooting practices have began anew!

Beginning the 17th of October at 3:00 PM and then recurring every 1st and 3rd Saturday, from 3 PM to 5 PM this year, Archery practice will be held at the Texans Archery Club. Address and map can be found at their web site.

Rifle, pistol, and muzzleloading will occur the 2nd and 4th Sunday’s of each month at the Dallas Pistol Club at 2:00 PM. The next practice is Sunday, the 11th of October. Address and map can be found at the web site. Always bring hearing and eye protection to every DPC RPM practice.

And don’t forget the 3rd Monday meeting at the Woodmen of the World at 7:00 PM in McKinney at the intersection of White & West.

Morgan Harbison Wins Silver!

Morgan Harbison competed in the USA Shooting Fall Selection Match for Olympic Trap in Kerrville, Texas last week where he won 2nd and the Silver Medal in Jr. Men’s.  Scores were combined from the USA Shooting National Championships held in Colorado Springs in June with scores from Fall Selection Match to determine the overall champions and members of the 2010 national teams.  Morgan won the Bronze Medal at the National Championships.  He finished 12th overall in the Men’s Open division.

Along with the Silver Medal, Morgan won a spot on the 2010 National Junior Men’s Trap Team and will represent the US in Munich, Germany next summer at the 2010 World Championships.

The 2009/2010 4H year is ready to begin!

The Collin County Field & Stream 4H Club will hold its kickoff meeting for the new year on Monday, the 21st of September, at 7:00 PM at the Woodmen of the World Lodge in McKinney, TX.

If you are interested in our program of shooting sports, archery, hunting & wildlife, and outdoor skills this is the meeting to attend!

Morgan Harbison Medals at Nationals

Morgan Harbison, CCFS4H’er recently won the Junior Men’s bronze medal in trap at the USA Shooting Nationals held in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  He was also 10th overall in the men’s division.  There were approximately 140 shooters at this competition.

Morgan will compete in the Junior Olympics in Colorado Springs beginning July 30.  Good luck!

Texas 4H Shotgun Shootout Results

morgan vest 2Congrats to Morgan Harbison for a very strong showing at the 4H Shotgun Shootout held last weekend in San Angelo.

Morgan placed 2nd in skeet, 4th in wobble trap, 5th in American trap and 6th in sporting clays.  He also placed 9th high overall in the Senior 2 division.

Morgan shot his first 50 straight in American skeet and also won a very tough wobble trap shoot off after hitting 27 straight targets in a single shot final.

Way to go, Morgan!

Texas Wins National 4H Match for 10th Year in a Row

The Texas 4H Shooting Sports Team brought home the Tom Davidson trophy to Texas for the 10th year in a row from the Natinal 4H Shooting Sports Games.

Representing Collin County was Brittany Dockery (recurve archery), Miranda Boes (hunting and wildlife) and Morgan Harbison (shotgun.)
